Have you ever wanted to have a decent day out with friends or family that’s actually fun?

Some Games

NIBCARD Games Café in Abuja is the most decent board game café in the city by far. The first time I visited the café, I had been invited by my friend, Ifeoma. I knew I was going to have fun but I didn’t expect what I met. Here are some things you should know about NIBCARD before visiting.

  1. EVERYTHING FEELS FAMILIAR
NIBCARD CAFE

NIBCARD is not just the best, it’s the first board game café in Nigeria for couples, families, groups, adults, and children. Once you walk through the door you will be greeted by 250 board games, game stewards (some fun guys that show you how the games are played), and also very exciting prospects of wins and losses. There’s this game “So you think you’re Nigerian” that really humbled me. I was surprised how much there was left to know about our great country. It had been a while since I got to do some fun-learning. I was happy to see some games I had played as a child that had been re-imagined by KC and the NIBCARD team.

2. ITS SO MUCH MORE FUN THAN IT SOUNDS

KC and the Gang

‘ Tabletop Games are like finding friends. There is always one for you, or 2 or a 100. Sometimes, all you have to do is begin with one and see how it goes’ — Kennechukwu Ogbuagu.

Since NIBCARD started in 2013 it has gone on to design and produce over 33 indigenous Tabletop games. So, apart from going there to have the time of your life with family and friends, you’ll also be patronizing made-in-Nigeria products. Personal favorites are Concentration Concentration, Wan Wan Touch, and Las Gidi rats. After losing woefully in the very first game I played, I had to sit up because I just would not take the last place in a group of 12, most of whom were people I’d just met. By the second game, I started getting the hang of it. I came back with a vengeance. At the end of the day, I felt refreshed in the midst of healthy competition and I had made new friends

3. VIBES

More Vibes

There’s a certain energy that KC and his team have that’s beyond the drive to make a business successful. And that’s the energy of someone who’s young at heart and is very passionate about what he does. That energy is very contagious and its something that’s hard to find or maintain in a competitive business. I personally have no stakes in NIBCARD games, although I wish I did. I’m proud to know NIBCARD and the vision that it runs with.
